| 10/02/11 | Season End and Next | First of all I'd like to congratulate Vikas Sabharwal for winning the
knockout tournament last night (finally). With wins over Tracey Harman,
Jim Graham, Scott Yardley, Videsh Sabharwal, Craig Wilson and John
Young, it's fair to say he definitely had a tough path to victory. Well
played to JY also, who had to overcome two 3-0 deficits and one 2-0
deficit and the might of Keith Walls to get to the final.
The
Next Season of the Singles League is just around the corner (hopefully
April start - will confirm this later). The Lady Haig will no longer be
used as a venue as they no longer sponsor the Renegade league. We will
be holding a registration night (again date/venue TBC), where players
will be required to bring their £40 signing on fee.
Can I please ask you to confirm your interest in playing in the next season, so that we can get an idea of numbers and start formulating the leagues. Please reply just to Me (littlejohnbee@hotmail.com) and John Young (jmyoung@sky.com). If you know of anyone else interested please pass this on to them.
From now on the correspondence for the Singles League will be coming from singlesleague@renegadepool.co.uk please make sure you check your Junk folders and add that address to your secured users list. |
| 21/10/10 | Week 3 |
Division One
After sharing the first two frames devastating Dev Chadha took four in
a row before Keith Walls took the last to lose 5-2. On the other table
Paul Maher was busy recording another 4-3 result, unfortunately for
Paul after coming back from 3-1 down to level at 3-3 he lost the last
and the match 4-3. I was up next against Scott Yardley and when you
play Scott you need a good start, a good middle and a good end… I got
the good start winning the first two frames with a break and dish in
the 1st and a good pot on the black from a snooker in the 2nd, but the
middle and the end weren’t good enough and Scott battered me taking the
last 5 in a row. To prove a point Gary then went on against Scott and
had a poor start and middle but a good end when he came back from 4-0
down to lose 5-2. Dev also played a 2nd match and was solid taking 5 in
a row before Paul Maher hit back claiming the last two frames for a 5-2
loss. Neil Cameron then went on against Martin Smith and after sharing
the first two Martin then pulled away taking all the remaining frames
to record a very useful 6-1 win. Gary Hoad, who’s trying to get as many
matches in a possible before his wife gives birth played a 3rd match
this time against Vikas who stormed off to a 3-0 lead but Gary took 3
of the next 4 to lose 4-3.
Division Two
Five players
couldn’t make it for one reason or another. Steve Prior was there and
was on form beating James Townsend 6-1 winning 3 frames either side of
James winning frame. Jez Hill took advantage of an out of sorts Nick
Weinel taking the first 4 frames in a row before Nick found some form
and hit back taking two of the remaining three to lose 5-2. Steve Prior
then went back on against Trevor Dias but was unable to reproduce his
earlier form and lost 5-2. Next on was Pat “the Fudger” Phelan against
Trevor Dias. Trevor won the first frame with a fluke black so Pat
decides to go to DEFCON 1 of Fudge and slows the next game right down,
this worked and Pat won it and the next 3 after that to take a 4-1
lead. Trevor pulled the 6th frame back before Pat took the final frame
of the night.
Division Three
Only 4
fixtures played this week. Jim Graham got his night off to a flying
start, taking 6 frames in a row after losing his initial frame against
John Cornell. A combination of good potting, tight safety and a dash of
good fortune gave Jim the bounce back he needed after losing his first
match of the season. John C managed to pick himself up and collect his
composure in his second match against Tracey Harman. In a near reversal
of his first match, after losing his opening frame, John won 4 in a row
to claim the points for the win. The players shared the final two
frames to give John a 5-2 win. John’s third match of the evening
unfortunately provided him with more frustration than jubilation. Mark
Murphy showed some excellent potting to race to a 2-0 lead. John took
the third frame to begin his comeback, alas this wasn’t to be, Mark
took the next three with an impressive display. John took the final
frame to make it 5-2. In the final match, a grudge match between Tracey
and Jim, was very tight and was very to and fro between the players.
Each of the first 6 frames went against the breaker, making it 3-3 with
Tracey to break in the final frame. Tracey had Jim in a quandary with a
fine safety. Jim gave Tracey 2 shots and she didn’t look back, making a
superb clearance to take the tie 4-3.
Division Four
Steve Tucker
and Kailash Kohli made their entrance into the league tonight after
returning from holiday and working away. Steve Tucker started against
Peter Jackson who had started his campaign with a good win and a narrow
defeat. Peter took the match 4-3 and is making steady progress, it
still early for Steve and I’m sure he’ll be back. Kohli started with
Martin Wilson who has been mentioned as one of the favourites for the
division. Martin took the match 5-2 and is up to 3rd in the division.
Kohli then played Jacquie Vann who can be a bit of a Jekyll & Hyde
player; tonight she was on good form and took the match 5-2. Seamus
Connor continued his good form with a 3rd win in a row this time over
James Mason 4-3, and is 2nd in the table. Jason Francis, the pace
setter in the division, extended his lead at the top of the table with
a superb 6-1 win over Matthew Conroy. That wasn’t the best result of
the night though, that honour goes to Alan Woodhouse who took all seven
frames against Andrew Simcock and is now joint 3rd with Martin Wilson.

| 14/10/10 | Week 2 |
Division One
Scotty “The Dogs” Yardley was on good form last night chalking up two
good 5-2 wins against Neil Cameron and then Keith Walls. It wasn’t such
a good night for the any of the promoted players from last season’s Div
2, Gary Hoad lost twice, 6-1 to Dev Chadha and 5-2 to Martin Smith. Rob
Walsh also lost to Dev 5-2 and John Young lost to Craig Wilson 4-3.
Following his win over JY, Craigy then played Martin Smith and having
slumped to 3-0 down proceeded to battle back to 3-3, Martin was at the
table, Craig had the obvious bag for the black covered with two balls,
Martin only option was to come off the cushion onto the black and kick
the black in the opposite bottom corner. A real tough shot… but not to
Smudger who knocked it in no trouble. Last week Dean Hardesty and Nick
Weinel were involed in a match where every frame went against the
break, I couldn’t remember seeing that before, now I’ve seen it twice
in two weeks!!! Vikas Sabharwal and Paul (4-3) Maher did it last night,
ounfortunately for Paul he broke first and ended up loosing 4-3.
Division Two
Pat Phelan
got his campaign off to a great start with a 6-1 win over singles
league debutant Steve Prior and followed this up with the same result
against Claire Dormer. A bit of revenge I think in the latter of those
two matches as Claire dumped Pat out of the Handicap KO Cup last time
around. Claire was short on luck on the night as in the deciding frame
against Jez Hill she potted her last ball and went in off with the
black hanging and so lost 4-3. Odhran Bryne had to come back from 2-0
and 3-1 down against Trevor Dias to snatch victory in the decider
taking the match 4-3. In the last match of the night Nick Weinel beat
James Townsend 4-3, Nick had been 4-1 in front. Shaun Tuffnell was
leading 2-0 against Lee Greenwood before Lee levelled at 2-2, Shaun
then took the next two before Lee took the final frame for a 4-3
defeat.
Division Three
Tom bounced
back from his narrow 4-3 defeat to Tony last week with a convincing 6-1
win over Singles League debutant Matt Gates 6-1. Tom also recorded a
solid 5-2 victory over Elliott later in the evening, and now tops the
table after three matches. Level on points with Tom is Tony following
his three wins from three matches all of them 4-3 wins the latest ones
against Jason Hawkins and Elliott. John Barnett kept in touch with the
leaders with a narrow win over Matt Gates but John had been 3-0 &
4-1 up so the two late frames he lost may haunt him at the end of the
season. In the final match of the night Ann Middleton led 3-1 after
being 1-0 down, but her opponent Mark Murphy battled back to level the
match 3-3 before Ann snatched the final frame to take the match 4-3.
Division Four
Andrew
Simcock came back from 3-1 down to beat Jason Francis 4-3 and Shane
Hill did exactly the same against Jacquie Vann. James Mason won the
first frame against Peter Jackson but Peter won all the remaining
frames to record a 6-1 victory. Alan Woodhouse and Martin Wilson shared
the first 6 frames in their match but Alan won the decider to claim a
4-3 victory. Jason Francis bounced back from his earlier defeat against
Andrew to take his 2nd match against James Mason 5-2. Seamus Connor
came back from 2-0 down to win 4 of the last five to take a 4-3 victory
over Matthew Conroy.

| 07/10/10 | Week 1 |
Division One
We had a couple of postponements so we will have catch-up matches to
play later. In the matches that were played Martin Smith repeated his
narrow 4-3 victory over Dev Chadha that he performed last season.
Scotty “The Dogs” Yardley came back from 2-0 down to defeat Craig
Wilson in the deciding frame to take the win points, 4-3. Paul Maher
also came from behind to defeat the Div Two 2nd place finisher and the
winner of last year’s Singles League Knockout Handicap Rob Walsh, 5-2.
If a stranger had walked in the Lady Haig pool room last night they may
have mistaken me for a pool player! Somehow I manage six frames in a
row against last two seasons 3rd place finisher Keith “The Wonder”
Walls to win 6-1.
Division Two
In an early
match between Dean Hardesty & Nick Wienel every frame went against
the break! Fortunately for Nick, Dean had won the toss and broke first
which meant Nick won 4-3. Claire Dormer was always in control of her
match with Shaun Tuffnell, never being behind and taking the match 5-2.
Claire played a 2nd match later in the evening and came back from 2-1
down to take the match against Odhran Bryne 4-3. County C teammates Jez
Hill & Trevor Dias played each other and at 1-1 Jez strung 5 frames
in a row together to win 6-1. Trevor quickly shrugged off the defeat
and in a 2nd match of the night came from 1-0 down against Scott Vann
to lead 3-1 before winning the match 4-3. It wasn’t Scott’s night as he
also played James Townsend who was on fire and won 6-1. Lee “The
Grinder” Greenwood took on singles league debutant Steve Prior and took
the first 5 frames before Steve started to find his feet and took the
last two, the Grinder winning 5-2.
Division Three
John
Barnett got off to a flyer against John Cornell leading 2-0 but the old
boy levelled at 2-2 before John Barnett had the pressure on again to
lead 3-2 but big John Cornell handled the pressure to take the last two
frames and the match 4-3. John Barnett played a 2nd game on the night
against new boy James Graham and managed three frames in a row when 2-1
down and eventually won the match 4-3. Tom Carter, also new to the
league had a battle with Tony Price, Tom led 1-0 then was 2-1 down then
led 3-2 before Tony took the last two frames to take the match 4-3.
Jason Hawkins was solid in his match with Mark Murphy and always led
finally taking the match 5-2. In the last match of the evening two new
players to the league Elliott Snell & Ann Middleton thrashed out
another close match. Elliott went 1-0 up, Ann hit back to go 2-1 up,
Elliott took the next 2 for a 3-2 lead before Ann took it to a decider
winning the 6th frame. In the final frame which looked like it could go
either way, Ann missed a fine cut altogether and Elliot took the
opportunity and the match 4-3.
Division Four
Several
people are away at the moment but Martin Wilson had a great start to
the league beating returning player Jacquie Vann 6-1. In a game of two
halves new boys Jason Francis and Alan Woodhouse played out a strange
match, Jason won the first 4 and Alan the last three, the win points go
to Jason. Pete Jackson led Matt Conroy 3-1 before Matt strung the last
three frames together to take the match 4-3. Seamus Connor led 3-0
before Andy Simcock hit back by taking the next two but Seamus held his
nerve and took the final two frames to win the match 5-2. James Mason
the 2nd player returning to the league took on Shane Hill and was never
behind taking the match 5-2.
|
| 02/07/10 | Week 10 |
Division One
Paul Maher has turned out to be a 4-3 specialist, 7 of his 9 matches
this season have been 4-3 one way or the other. This week after leading
1-0, 2-1 & 3-2 lost to Martin Smith when Martin took the last two
frames to win 4-3. Pat Phelan went down 6-1 to Lee "Grinder" Greenwood,
who this season has played wide open (except in his with Vikas) and
knocked in a couple of good clearances on his way to the win.
Division Two
Rob Walsh
guaranteed himself 2nd spot in division two with two clinical displays
against Claire Dormer & Shaun Tuffnell losing just one frame in the
two matches, beating Claire 7-0 and Shaun 6-1. Rob marches into
Division One for next season and I’m sure will give a good account of
himself. John Young secured the 3rd place spot with a 5-2 victory over
the only person who could of accumulated enough points to pass him,
Jack Coombes. Shaun Tuffnell moved into 4th place with a 5-2 victories
over Jack & Tyler Coombes, but Jack is favourite to take the 4th
spot as he's only 8 points behind with 2 matches left to play.
Division Three
Bobby
Simpson moved another position up the table with a 4-3 win over Seamus.
Rav Tak moved into the 2nd promotion place in division 3 with a 5-2 win
over Andrew Simcock. Rav is 4 points behind James and 4 points in front
of Dean, all having played the same number of games. Rav still has to
play Kailash, James & Jason. Dean has to play Tracey Bobby &
Matt. Looks like a tight finish folks…
|
| 19/06/10 | Week 9 |
Division One
Craig Wilson still holds on to the top spot in division one following a
6-1 win over Lee. He’s a point ahead of Videsh, but Videsh has a game
in hand, so is still favourite to win it. Vid has to play Keith and
Leigh… both tricky games. Criag has Leigh too in his final match. Keith
Walls has two hard games left against Vid and Pat and needs 3 points
more in those matches than Martin get’s against Paul in his last match
to take 3rd. Dev got two wins against Keith & Pat and still has an
outside chance of third place too… if results go his way and he gets a
good result against Vikas.
Division Two
The man, the
myth, the legend that is Gary Hoad went through the whole season
undefeated, Due to forthcoming holidays he played his final three
matches last night and won the lot. 6-1 against Claire, 5-2 against
Scott and came back from 3-1 down against Odhran to win that match 4-3.
A truly awesome performance, congratulations you talented b’stard !!!
Up with the big boys next time.
Rob Walsh secured 2nd spot following a 6-1 victory over
Nick and looks certain to follow Gary up to the top division. John
Young a 5-2 winner over Tony can still be caught by Jack Coombes for
3rd if Jack gets some big wins under his belt and then beats John as
well. It looks like it’s not beyond the realms of possibility as Jack
won 7-0 against Scott last night. Tyler got back to winning ways in his
match with John Cornell taking the match 4-3.
Division Three
Kailash
Kohli began to show some form winning two matches the first 4-3 against
Matt, the second 5-2 against Andy. Matt then went on to play against
Seamus and he bounced back from his earlier defeat with a 4-3 win.
Others to play two matches were Dean and Rav who first played each
other, Dean came out on top 4-3. Rav then played Tracey and took a
tricky match 6-1. In Dean’s 2nd match, which started late, he slumped
to a 5-2 defeat at the hands of Steve. James & Rav look favourites.
|
| 12/06/10 | Week 8 |
Division One
James Warner couldn’t possibly catch up now so I’m planning to remove him and any points attributed to his 2 matches played.
Leigh Munday was unlucky going in off the black in two of the first 5
frames against Martin Smith, he’d won the other three so would’ve been
5-0 up. As it went though Martin managed to win the final 3 frames to
take the match 4-3. Vikas Sabharwal came back from 3-2 down against
Craig Wilson to take the final two frames and the match 4-3. Pat Phelan
was in a commanding position at 3-0 up against Paul Maher but a nasty
role on the table and a resurgence from Paul taking the final 4 frames
meant the win went to Mr Maher. Videsh Sabharwal had plans to follow
his 7-0 victory from last week with another against Dev Chadha but he
hit a ball a little too hard into the middle and the white slid down
the cushion to knock in one of Dev’s balls in the corner, Dev’s deadly
with two shots from there. 6-1 win for Videsh and a 13 frame winning
streak halted by Dev.
Division Two
Dues to
holidays, work commitments etc. we had no Rob Walsh, John Cornell,
Tyler or Jack Coombes last night, so only played three fixtures, but
these matches had significance and they included four of the top five
players in the table at the time. Gary Hoad played two matches last
night and lost ONE frame…. His first victim… was Nick Weinel. Gary had
taken the first four frames when Nick pulled one back, Gary then took
the next two against Nick and in his second match all seven against
Shaun Tuffnell. Gary had played Martin Smith in practice earlier in the
evening and had got the better of Martin too. The man’s on fire !!! In
the only other match John Young against Claire Dormer, which was 3rd
against 4th in the table, in a match which could’ve gone either way
John Young took the scrappy frames and Claire took out the polished
dishes. There was more scrap than polish though and JY took the match
5-2 which put 9 points of daylight between 3rd and 4th in Div Two.
Division Three
In another
set of fixtures ravaged by work commitments, break downs etc, we had no
Dean Hardesty, Rav Tak or Mat Spedding so again only played three
fixtures. Tracey Harman has been tearing through Division three with 5
wins in a row, but it looked like Kailash Kohli had put the brakes on
Tracey’s charge when he took a 3-0 lead, but Tracey managed to dig in
and scrape the final 4 frames together to take the match 4-3 and her
6th win in a row. John Barnett and Bobby Simpson were involved in a
tight match sharing the first four frames but it was John that found
the form in the later stages to take the final three frames and a 5-2
victory. In the final match of the night two of the several still in
contention for the division three title faced off against each other.
James Townsend with only one defeat all season took on the unbeaten
Tracey Harman. James came out on top taking 3 frames either side of
Tracey’s frame to win the match 6-1 and move clear top of the division.
Theres still any from six players still in with a chance of winning
division three.
|
| 09/06/10 | Week 7 |
Division One
Last weeks leader Craig Wilson got a massive result against one of the
top contenders Martin Smith with a very handy 5-2 win, but former
leader Videsh Sabharwal regains the top spot this week with a huge win
over Paul Maher 7-0. Leigh Munday continues to track the leaders with
another solid performance a 5-2 victory over Lee Greenwood. Pat Phelan
moved up one place following his 4-3 win over Neil Cameron, another to
claim a 4-3 win over Neil was Vikas Sabharwal but in his second match
of the night Vikas was narrowly defeated by Martin 4-3.
Division Two
Only half the
matches got played in Division two this week, and mixed fortunes for a
couple of the leaders. Claire Dormer remains 4th after a 5-2 defeat to
Nick Weinel. Nick still has a couple of games in hand and could still
feature the battle for money places. Rob Walsh takes the 2nd place
position and levels his points tally with Gary Hoad, but Gary has a
game in hand and is still favorite to win the division.
Division Three
The top of
the table clash was between James and Dean, with James the victor and
now ties with Dean in 2nd place. The new leader in Division Three is
Jason Hawkins following his 5-2 win over Bobby Simpson. Tracey Harman
takes her unbeaten run to five matches following victories over Steve
Tucker and Andrew Simcock and now takes her points tally to 33 from
five matches and only 5 points off the lead but still has 2 matches in
hand of the leader and one match in hand of Dean and James but trails
them by only 3 points. In the only other match of the night Kailash
Kohli was on the right side of a 4-3 win against John Barnett.
|
| 28/05/10 | Week 6 |
Division One
It's starting to get really interesting now… Craig caught up with his
game in hand and took 7 points in a 5-2 win in his match with Pat, he
then took another 6 points in a 4-3 win later against Neil. Craig
Wilson now takes over at the top of division one with 37 points. Videsh
also managed a 4-3 victory over Neil which means he's two points behind
Craig. Keith Walls keeps the pressure on the front two with a 4-3 win
over Paul, which is Pauls 4th 4-3 defeat of the season, an odd frame
here and there could of made a massive difference to his season ! In an
early match Leigh Munday lost 4-3 to Vik but Leigh's still in touch
with the leaders but now 6 behind Craig. Martin is in 5th following his
5-2 win over Neil.
Division Two
In a catch up
match earlier in the week Scott Vann held off a Claire Dormer fight
back. When 3-1 down she levelled at 3-3 before losing the decider to go
down 4-3. Gary Hoad continued his tremendous form with a 5-2 victory
over John Cornell. Rob Walsh was solid in his 7-0 defeat of Odhran
Bryne. Odhran said after the match he only had a chance in two of the
frames. John Young put in his best performance of the season this week
against Tyler Coombes also winning 7-0. Shaun Tuffnell played a much
more attacking game in his match with John Cornell which paid off for
him as he won 5-2. Odhran played his 2nd match of the night against
Jack Coombes and ran out a 5-2 winner.
Division Three
We have a
new leader in Division 3 ! Dazzling Dean Hardesty takes the lead by a
single point following his 6-1 victory over Andrew Simcock and Rav
Tak's 4-3 defeat at the hands on John Barnett. Other notable victories
this week were Tracey Harman's 5-2 victory over Bobby Simpson which
maintains her 100% record so far. Jason Hawkins chalked up the best win
of the night and of his season so far with a 7-0 victory over Matt
Spedding. James Townsend added 12 points to his tally following 4-3
wins over Kaiash Kohli and Seamus Connor. Kailash also secured his
first win of the season with a 4-3 win over Steve Tucker. With Dean,
Rav and James still only played 5 matches and only 3 point separating
them they look the three in the driving seat to the prize money,
although don't write off Tracey Harman just yet as she's 14 points
behind with 2 games in hand.
|
| 21/05/10 | Week 5 |
Division One
Craig Wilson managed to chalk up another 14 points last night with two
mightily impressive results. He beat the league leader Videsh 4-3 and
the 2nd place man Keith 6-1 !! Leigh Munday continued his winning ways
with a 5-2 victory over Dev. Leigh had been 5-0 up so Dev's managed to
claw back some vital points. Paul Maher beat Lee 4-3 and after a tough
start to the season Paul appears to be finding his feet in the top
flight. Paul had looked to be cruising at one point 3-0 but Lee never
gives up and battled back to take 3 of the last 4 frames. Lee played
twice last night and in a match where the lead changed hands 4 times it
was Lee who came out on top with a 4-3 victory over Vikas. In the final
match of the night Pat, who had lost his previous three matches must of
thought he'd be maintaining his 100% record but then managed to turn
around a 3-1 deficit to win the match against Martin Smith 4-3.
Division Two
Despite
calling a foul snooker and then failing to nominate his opponents ball
which resulted in Shaun Tuffnell taking out tidy clearance with the two
shots to go 2-1 in front, John Young managed to get over the huge
mistake and take the next 4 frames to win 5-2. Rob Walsh was solid in
his match with John Cornell taking the first 5 frames in a row, JC hit
back though taking the last two (using my cue !). Jack Coombes and Nick
Weinel shared the first 4 frames before Jack strung the last 3 frames
together to take the match 5-2. Jack must be the most improved player
in Div 2 this season ??
Who will stop or even slow down the relentless Gary Hoad march
to division one !! Five matches unbeaten and two 7-0 victories included
in those matches. Gary is showing a level of consistency beyond
anything I can remember him producing ever !! The unlucky opponent this
week was Tyler, but they say "form is temporary, class is forever".
Tyler's class is undeniable so I'm sure he'll bounce back… and let's
hope Gary's form is temporary ‘cos we're running out of matches to
catch him !!
Division Three
Tracey
Harman made her long awaited debut in division three and made an
immediate impact with back to back 4-3 victories over Matt Spedding and
John Barnett. Rav Tak took his unbeaten run to 4 matches with a 6-1
victory over Bobby Simpson. Dean Hardesty looks the best of the rest
right now with 25 points following his 4-3 win over John Barnett.
Seamus and John are on the same number of points but have played a game
more, Seamus got there with a 4-3 win over Andrew Simcock. Steve Tucker
got his first win of the season with a 4-3 win over Jason Hawkins.
|
| 14/05/10 | Week 4 |
Division One
Vid and Vik played the longest match in Singles League history last
night taking approx 2 hours 45 minutes ! Vik was quoted as saying in
the post match interview that it was "open match" !!! The result went
to Videsh who came back from 2-0 down to claim a 5-2 victory. Another
early starting match was Leigh Munday v James Warner, it was a tight
affair with the first 6 frames all going with break but James ended
that run by taking the decider against the break for a 4-3 win.
Keith Walls continued his unbeaten run defeating Lee Greenwood 5-2 in a
match that was refreshingly short at 35 minutes. Martin Smith
interrupted the Videsh charge to title by coming back from 3-2 down to
take the match 4-3, this means a new leader at the top of the table as
Keith takes over.
Pat Phelan came back from 2-0 down against Vikas to force a decider.
With Pat having one ball over the bag and another in the centre of the
table, Vik was facing a black tight on the bottom cushion and only a
really difficult full length of the table double to win the match. Vik
doubles the black misses the bag by about a foot but the black bounces
off the baulk cushion hits the knuckle of the middle pocket and flies
into the comer pocket on the opposite side of the table. Vik wins 4-3.
In the final match of the evening Paul Maher got his first victory of the campaign over Dev Chadha winning 5-2.
Division Two
Scott Vann came back from 2-0 down to John Young to take 4 frames in a
row and finally the match 4-3. Jack Coombes was solid in his 6-1
victory over John Cornell, whilst Tyler Coombes lost 6-1 to Rob Walsh
after taking the first frame. The potting machine Claire Dormer was
slow to get going in her match with Odhran Bryne and trailed 3-1 before
stringing the last three frames together to take the match 4-3. Shaun
Tuffnell's form continued to improve after an impressive 6-1 victory
over Scott Vann which move Shaun into the top half of the table.
Division Three
Due to
holidays and work commitments we had fewer matches last night. This
division is looking so tight just about anyone could win it. James
Townsend lost the first and last frames against Jason Hawkins but
rattled off the 5 frames in between to win 5-2.Bobby Simpson moved into
2nd place follow a good 5-2 win over Mat Spedding. Seamus Connor lost
the toss for the break but nothing else in the match beating Steve
Tucker 7-0. In the only other match of the evening John Barnett beat
Seamus Connor 4-3.
|
| 07/05/10 | Week 3 |
Division One
With several people unable to attend due to the Tottenham v Man City
fixture we had fewer matches this week. Keith was impressive on the
night overturning last season's 4-3 defeat by Martin, into a 5-2
victory . Keith also played Neil Cameron in a catch-up match and came
back from 2-0 down to win the decider for a 2nd win of the night this
time 4-3. Last season Keith had won this fixture 6-1.
Neil also played two matches and played Dev Chadha earlier
in the evening. Dev is a different player this season to the one that
only won 3 matches all season last time and managed a great 6-1 win for
his second win in three matches this season. The only other match
played was Leigh v Paul, for the 2nd week in a row Leigh comes back
from 3-2 down to win and Paul looses 4-3 for the third time in a row.
Division Two
Gary Hoad is
unstoppable at the moment with 4 wins out of 4. Tonight he put in two
solid performances against tough opposition beating both Rob Walsh and
John Young 5-2. Earlier John Young had a great win against his old
adversary John Cornell beating him 7-0, to be fair to JC he had very
little run of the ball and he's still struggling to get to grips with
the rules. Later in the evening JC took on the impressive potter,
Claire Dormer, she proved too strong winning 5-2. In the derby match of
the day Jack took on his son Tyler and reversed the results from last
season taking the match 4-3 on a deciding frame. Shaun Tuffnell got off
the mark with a narrow victory over Odhran Bryne 4-3 in the deciding
frame, Odhran had pulled back from 2-0 and 3-1 down to get pipped in
the decider.
Division Three
Dean
Hardesty got off to a dodgy start in his first match of the season
losing 4-3 Jason Hawkins but since then has been mightily impressive
with two consecutive 6-1 wins, the latest against Seamus Connor which
move dean to 2nd in the table. The afore mentioned Jason Hawkins was an
equally impressive 6-1 victor over Andrew Simcock and that moves Jason
into 3rd. The clash of the titans this week was Rav Tak against Matt
Spedding, both were unbeaten going into this match but Rav Tak was the
one to maintain his 100% start with a very handy 5-2 win.

Division One
The division one pacesetters are Videsh, Martin & Leigh who have
each won their first two matches. Videsh took his unbeaten frames score
to 12 in a row following last weeks 7-0 victory by taking the first
five in a row from singles league new boy James Warner, but James ended
the impressive winning streak by taking the final two frames of their
match.
Martin came from 2-0 down to win a tense decider against
Dev in a repeat of last season's 4-3 victory for Martin. Leigh came
from 3-2 down to inflict the second defeat of the season on Pat, this
reversed the score from last season where Pat had won 4-3.
Another notable result was Keith's 5-2 victory over Vikas
which was a reverse of the same fixture last season, this match was 2nd
v 3rd from last season.
Division Two
Gary
continued his good start with a 5-2 win over Jack Coombes to take the
lead at the top of D2. Gary's closest rivals are Rob Walsh who was
impressive in his 5-2 win over John Young, and Tyler Coombes who is
starting this season in a similar fashion to the last one who was never
behind in his win over Tony Price. Gary, Tyler, Rob and singles league
debutant John Cornell are the only unbeaten players remaining in D2.
Division Three
Rav Tak
continued his good start to the season with a hard fought 4-3 victory
over Seamus Connor. Matt Spedding played two matches last night, having
entered the league as a late replacement, and has started brightly with
2 wins in a row last night. The first against James Townsend and the
second against Steve Tucker. Rav and Matt share the lead at the top of
division three closely followed by John Barnett, who held off a Jason
Hawkins comeback from 3-1 down to level 3-3 before John took the
decider.

| 25/04/10 | Week 1 |
We are short of a player in division one and two, however plans are
afoot to address this and I hope to have players in place for next
week. Tracey Harman and Matt Spedding will be taking the available
places in division three, however, Tracey won't be around for a couple
of weeks as she is away on holiday for a fortnight.
Division One
Videsh made
his entrance into the singles league in style beating the last division
one winner Pat Phelan 7-0. It was a bad night for all round for last
season's winners, with Nick Weinel the division three winner loosing
narrowly to Scott Vann 4-3 in his first outing in division two. Lee
Greenwood last season's division two winner lost to Martin Smith 5-2 in
his division one debut.
Division Two
Gary Hoad
made an impressive start in division two beating Tony Price 7-0. D2
debutants Rob Walsh & Claire Dormer also started well with
victories.
Division Three
The
division three dazzling debutants were Rav Tak with a 6-1 victory and
John Barnett with a 5-2 win. Very early days though and anything can
happen yet.
